WELCOME TO ST BARTHS
The Caribbean Island of St Barthelemy (St Barts or St Barths for short) is a tiny island in the French West Indies - only about six square miles. The island is French and very chic (of course!) with world-class hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and shopping. The lifestyle is informal - no jackets required - and even more informal on the beaches, where the sand is dazzling white and the sea is crystal-clear turquoise… The Euro is the local currency but credit cards are accepted everywhere.
GETTING THERE… (Passports required!)
From New York (and many other US cities) it is best to fly to St Maarten and then take a small plane (10 minute flight) to St Barths. The flight from NY takes about 3 ½ hours and if you leave early in the morning you can get there in time for lunch! There is no time difference between New York and St Barths except in the winter when it is one hour later. From Europe it is still best to fly into St Maarten (8 hours from Paris), but it is also possible to fly to Antigua (8 hours from London) and take a charter to St Barths (40 minute flight). The time difference from London is 4 hours (5 hours in winter).
Beaches, shopping and restaurants!
We are happy to give you our list of favorite places to go (one of the best beaches on the island, Saline Beach, is just a few minutes drive from the villa). With dozens of great restaurants we can recommend ones we love and Bernard is on hand to make reservations for you. Shopping is world-class (& duty-free) with the best designers - both international and local.
Activities…
A state-of-the-art gym is available to join by the day or the week and there is also every conceivable water-sport you can imagine, as well as tennis, yoga etc. Bernard will be happy to advise and make any bookings for you!
Car rental…
Yes, you will need a car! There are many car rental agencies on the island and we can assist with organizing this.
